There was a girl.

There was a man.

I tried to stop her.
She was innocent.
She was pure.
And he, he was not.
He was a smoker.
He liked to drink.
And she, she was lonely.
Every day was a lie.
Every kiss was empty.
But she, she didn't know it.
He laughed at her happiness.
He loved when she cried.
He was a monster.
Once upon a time--
She turned her back for only a second.
Once upon a time--
He found someone else.
And once upon a time--
She was lonely again.
She was no longer innocent.
She was no longer pure.
And he, he didn't care.
He had gotten what he wanted.
He no longer wanted her.
And she, she never saw it coming.
Once upon a time--
There was a girl.
Once upon a time--
There was a man.
And once upon a time--
I broke that man's neck.
Because even though he didn't care.
I did.
